Dumb brake help needed!
So I replaced the rotors and pad on the front of the 03 300 last night. After pulling the old stuff off I had a heck of a time getting the passenger side caliper back on the rotor. After about an hour and taking it on/off I found an trick to get it on but noticed it felt tight against the rotor. Wen to the driver side and it went on easier (start to finish was about 1/2 hour) but again noticed the pads were already dragging on the rotor! I have never had this happen and thought maybe I should drive it to the end of the street and see if it frees up. Well it didnt and you can defiantly feel tat the pads are hanging on the rotor. Other than the wrong parts being in the wrong box, what else could it be???
and YES:
1. the piston was pushed all the way back in on the caliper
2. yes the cap to the reservoir was off
3. yes the brake fluid is the correct level
4. yes I triple checked the part numbers on the boxes
5. yes I had a few beers but not enough to really matter
parts used from Autozone (nothing fancy at all)
pads: Duralast MKD619
rotors: Duralast 31172

Its not that unusual for the piston(s) on the second side you do to be a little tighter than the first side due to the pistons being compressed because of the thicker/new pads an nowhere for the fluid to go. Did you leave the cap off your master cylinder when compressing?
Make sure there is zero dirt/rust where the pads rest in the caliper bracket.
Are you using too many shims? Some of the better Duralast pads come with shims built in and therefore you dont need to use the OEM shims.
Caliper may be failing or dirty. Was your boot on the caliper cracked?

No cracks, cap was off, did not use factory shim as these DID come with a shim, both sides are equally tight.

Did you put the side shims on correctly , did you clean and grease the slide pins so the calipers don't stick?
