Default Rotor Discolored

New member in need of advice,
I had a shop do a complete brake job about 3 thousand miles ago.
Now I have a discoloration on outer half of rotor. Brake feel fine, no pull, no pulsation.
Slight squeel at very low speed.

Make sure that your pad isnt stuck to the rotor. Old pad clips can cause this.

That could be the result of a loose wear clip, cheap pads, or a lack of the spacer pieces that go into the caliper assembly.

Feel the rotor (when cool) to make sure you are not grinding the rotor itself. I have also seen discoloration when usuing cheap rotors.

Not sure how familiar you are with doing a brake job, but if you disassemble the brakes then make sure all parts are properly installed, I wouldn't worry.

run your finger tip across the radius of the rotor, it shouldnt catch, it should be smooth. if it's not, you have a problem

Default Thanks

Thank you,
I will go by Lexus dealer and get new brake hardware kit and replace clips.
I asked for top of the line pads and rotors, should I drop down from ceramic to semi metallic?
Thanks again.

Discolored rotor means heat. You have a pad hung up or other such issue. I have at least 45K miles on the current set of front pads and my rotors look better than yours.

The front pads are ceramic. You should stick with that. What brand parts did you have installed previous? Independent shop or from Lexus?

Stick with the ceramics and use ONLY the toyota clips and spacers as OEM will cause squeeking. Your photo could be the result of heat build up, cheap rotors, cheap pads or a cracked pad, etc.

Check the rotor closely and make sure it is smooth. Also inspect the caliper assembly when you have it out. I would also crease the caliper Slide BOLTS slightly to make sure they are allowing travel without sticking.
