VIP hadn't really taken off yet, there was no "stance", most of the GS mods were into handling/JDM and 20" wheels started to get popular. If you had fakes you got laughed off the forum and we were going bonkers for L-tuned stuff

The GS is indeed an awesome car than and now. Kind of nuts but I choose it over the 3rd gen GS and 2IS.
