Default Sanity Check on Interior Colors

Guys, I need a sanity check on interior colors of 2001 GS430's.

I ordered an interior part from a dealer, and told him that I need the part in charcoal, since that is what my interior looks like to me. He is telling me that my VIN tells him that my interior is sandalwood. I don't want to get the wrong part and deal with cross-country returns.

Is the picture below charcoal or sandalwood??

the charcoal is the black color. It's a rare-ish color on GS models. What you have is sandalwood.

Well that would certainly be consistent with what the dealer said. So sandalwood is grayish?

What confuses me is that the options at Sewell don't even mention sandalwood, they have ivory (light tan), dk. charcoal, and black listed (see below).

I figured that since my interior is obviously not black or light tan, it must be dark charcoal . Did I figure wrong?

your interior is not dark charcoal. Hard to tell from the pic but given that your car is white, has tan carpet and I've never seen a white/grey 2GS, you must have an Ivory interior. Because of how these interiors are sort of two toned, the light gray and ivory interiors have the same color dash, IIRC, so you should go with the Ivory part.

What part exactly are you looking for? I see it's the instrument panel speaker...I can't think of what that is. If it's on the dash, you should get the Ivory part.

The pic is tan/ivory interior. Charcoal=GRAY. Black=Black.

OK, well that would explain it then, Didn't they make GS's with a beige/camel interior? I figured that's what the light tan would be, obviously I figured wrong. I'll just go with the dealer's recommendation then.

As far as the part I am looking for, it's actually not in this photo because this photo is not of my car, but of one with the same color interior (found it on Google Images). The part I am buying is the trim piece for the dash mounted Mark Levinson center speaker .

Thanks guys!

ah ok. that's why I was curious looking at the picture...I knew that's what the part was but was interested as to why you'd be buying it for a dash that doesn't have one haha

Well yeah, unless the interior has been swapped.

Got it, and thanks for checking with me to make sure that I don't buy a part that my car doesn't have/need . I appreciate it!

Oh, so maybe this explains my confusion. Here is a photo of another '01 GS430, this one clearly with the beige/camel interior that I have seen on other GS's - but the dash itself seems to be the same color as the one in the first picture, with the gray interior.

So apparently the interiors with the beige seats used the same dash color as the ones with gray seats, which explains why there is no "beige" option for the dash-mounted speaker trim.
