New 99 GS300 owner! Got some questions...
Hello! I'm completely new to the Lexus world and am hoping to learn from everyone on this forum. I'm a Mustang guy at heart but have always loved Lexus' style and elegance. I just traded my e39 BMW for a 1999 GS300 and I'm pretty excited. The car has a ton of miles (250k) but it seems to run really good, especially compared to my problematic bimmer. Anyway, are there any common issues that I should be aware of on this model? Any "must do" maintenance that I should perform (I don't know much about the maintenance history of the car)? Should I be afraid of the amount of miles on this car?
Any and all feedback/input is greatly appreciated! I hope to meet some of you guys soon

Timing chain (with water pump) and lower ball joints are the MUST!
Check out our stickies it has ALL the info you need
As for miles, as long as you take care of it, it'll last a long time. Its a Toyota, so that alone helps not to mention its a 2j, so its healty. Not considering what previous owners may have done or not done of course

As for the miles, I figured since its a Toyota it'd be pretty reliable so I'm it too concerned...good to hear your feedback on it as well though this car was definitely not abused and when I first test drove it I couldn't tell that it had 250k on the odo!

Dont look away from the Ball Joint, because this CAN happen to you:
especially with the miles that you have. While you're in there, might as well do the inner and outer tie rods. That alone will make you love your car even more It was amazing the difference just the inner rods did for me.

Does anyone know the average lifespan of these motors? I know it's subject to how well the motor was maintained, but has anyone ever seen them go beyond 300k miles?

Couldnt find the one I was thinking about, he has 300k and the car is in (for a lack of a better word) in PERFECT condition. Interior looks like it came off the showroom.
heres a gs4 with 300k:
