Ok so I tried tapping the positive to both green and red and I ran the black wire on the car for ground but it stayed on and didn't turn off any idea? Am I doing something wrong?

Blue/yellow striped is positive & green is earth iirc. A member said to ground to that or else it will stay on & it will have the dimming effect. Lmk if that helps becuz I need to do the same. GL.

The ground is what is switching, it is not constant so cannot ground to the chassis. U need to use the ground from the footwells.

i ran both wires up the a pilar to the dome light.

the point of doing so was so that i could turn the puddle lights on with the dome light in case i want to displate the car at a show or something. the dome light also triggers if the doors open, and "fades"
