Headlights
Hey guys been lurking in the shadows and finally decided to come out of the dark lol. Been searching for information to see if the halogen headlights would fit in a hid headlight application?but did not come across what I was looking for. I have a stock 04 gs300 and it comes with hids but the lense is all hazy and I'm planning on doing a retro but don't have any down time on my car so I was wondering if a halogen headlight would fit in replacement for my hid headlight?? Any help would be appreciated thanks

Don't quote on me on this, but I believe it should be the same.. the only difference would be the wiring for the lights. I don't think there's any difference in fitment wise.
Again, don't quote me on this lol

I'd say Wet sand them and buff your stocks , physically the halogen lights will bolt on But it's obviously a downgrade, what you can do is get some clean/new lights halogen or not and use those lenses on your stock hid lights. And that's if your lights are really messed up.
They are not the same. The main problem are the reflector bowls. The Halogen ones are made, well for halogen which dont glare like an HID because they arent that bright. If you use the non hid headlight, you'll have a glare and not to mention look like a ricer. You'll probably get pulled over for them as well. This is a nonhid bowl:

This is an hid bowl If you look closely, you'll see three grooves that crisscross the HID bowl below that arent there on the above picture, that allows to create a 'cutoff' similar to a projector which reduces upward glare.:

Non HID rear:

Its a total different bulb, so using factory ballast is out of the question.
You're better off sanding them down, buffing them then then taking them to a paint shop and get them clear coated then cut and buffed. Dont use that cheap off the counter crap be cause to be honest, unless yours are completely clouded and yellow, its gonna make it worse. Either way, it will only last for 3 months and you'll have to keep doing them. The clear coat lasts forever! (longer than new) The BEST thing to do if you're a DIY'er, remove the lenses completely and have them sanded on both the inside and the outside and get both cleared because the inside can eventually get clouded too.
as stated above, next best thing is to swap out the lenses from the new ones if already bought. Those TOO I would get clear coated and they wont just last forever, they'll believe it or not, get even more transparent
While you're in there, might as well swap the bezel on the inside to make them look completely new

Wow thanks for all the info I don't care about the reflector bowl only because I will be retro fitting my ls430s just wanted time to work on newer ones that Im planning on buying. Don't have down time in my gs as it is my daily driver. So I thought I can just buy the halogen headlights and just work on those to retrofit as long as there was no headlight fitment issue
