After market park assist? Is there such a thing? Or are you just talking about the ones that beep faster the closer you get not the fully automated ones?

Perhaps you need some parking practice.

be nice guys.

im planning to get a rear-view camera for my DDIN. Main thing is just to see behind me when I'm driving though and just to say I have a rear view camera. Look into a camera that has the parking assist function

I tell ya one thing that rear view camera could prevent you from killing a small child that alone would be worth it. Since they cannot be seen when they are directly behind you. Not sure if the beeping things would detect a child.

Rear view cam would be sick if it could be integrated to work with the navi screen...

The backup sensors send out ultrasonic signals and will detect any obstruction in its path, signposts, fire hydrants, and stupid kids.. I imagine if a kid ran out and you didn't see it, the sensor would go from normal slow beep (nothing within 10 feet) to suddenly superfast beeping (<3 feet) or steady tone (less than 1 foot, you are going to hit something!)

I had both in my last GS. It was awesome. Made me so lazy for parking.

The backup sensors can be installed in any car, but you have to be willing to drill holes in your rear bumper cover. The backup camera is bit trickier, integration wise, unless you go with a separate LCD solution, which looks ghetto IMO. My camera was integrated with my CarPC touch screen, so when I threw it in reverse it would switch to the camera view.

If this is true then all you naysayers owe the OP a big APOLOGY

I should also clarify that the sensors shoot the signals out in a 30 degree cone, so there would be blind spots if there was something right in between the sensors and less than, say 8" away from your bumper. Then again, it would have detected it as you approached it, so it'd be your own bad if you ignored the warning prior to it falling into a blind spot

The cameras usually have a 160 degree FOV and can see pretty well everything behind you.

And don't buy the hidden sensors that don't require drilling (they tape or glue on the inside of your bumper cover) - they are known to be flaky and give you bad readings after a while, especially on thicker bumpers were the signal could erroneously reflect.

Trust me guys it makes a world of a difference, i got limo tint on my car and at times it's bothering,i drove my brothers ls430 and it makes it a breeze to park. Not only does it protect you from scratching your bumper and parallel parking but it also alerts you if some idiot is getting ready to back into you or bump you from behind, given you time to honk your horn as a waring for him to back off. They sell kits on ebay and the park sensors are black and so is my car, but im still in limbo on this.

i disagree, you dont have to drill a hole, through the license plate light, there is enough room.

its been done here on the forums before, i remember seeing somewhere that someone actually even used their trunk keyhole.

I say do it! It adds another nice feature to the car, let alone its a great safety tool. It also instills confidence parking in tight spaces.
