Cranky Ball Joints...
I've reviewed the threads on ball joint issues on here and I've noticed the unmistakeable sounds of cranking/creaky/popping noise from my front lower suspension. On automd.com, the repair estimate for my '99 GS300 with 69K miles would be about $185. If anyone had their GS ball joints replaced by a private shop, what did you end up paying?
Thanks

Very easy to do yourself. Check out the DIY threads and save $$$. Took me 3hrs for my first time ever messing with suspension.

Thanks for the info. I'd do it myself, but don't have the proper equipment. I'll have a mechanic check it out. I saw the pics in the searches on here of cars where the ball joints busted and definitely want to avoid that. The low mileage and great condition of the car was a major factor in my deciding to buy it. I bought it from a dealer and believe it was driven primarily as a second car by the previous owner. The rear and front passenger seats don't even look as if anyone has ever sat on them.

^^^^Stop talkin and start replacing! You saw the threads...what are you waiting on. After viewing the threads, I had those things immediately replaced. I paid $120 for both lbj's and tie rods from Rock Auto, using Moog suspension parts. I didn't want to trust the faulty oem part. Labor was $100 for both sides. You should replace the tie rods at the same time because you HAVE TO take those off to replace the lbj's. It only makes sense to do it at the same time.
