Default First Mod, New mags, questions....

The mags I'd really like to have only come in 20X8.5 .I think 8.5 wide sounds kinda small for the rear. I couldn't find the specs for the Offsets so I'll have to call to find out but I know theres a 3"lip

I plan to have air suspension and don't like the negitive camber look so with a 8.5 wide rim I'm hoping it will tuck nicely when parked and slammed as low as possible sitting on the ground. Also important that at ride height everything clears turning and still looks flush not sunken in.

I know most VIP cars have a streached tire since in back 10.5" or even 11" wide is common. Will the car look stupid with the tire being wider then the rim? Any one with pics of 8.5" mags in the rear and wider tires on them?

So what are my tire options for the 20X 8.5 front and rear? And what offset i'll need?

Thanks

8.5" in the rear will look "sunk" in. It wont look right. most folks on here have atleast a 10" in the rear and 8.5" front.

I agree, if you are going with aftermarket wheels, do it right. I would also choose a 10" rear wheel.

Thanks guys, And how do I know what offset I'll need?

Offset for 20x10 or 20X10.5 or 20X11 rear?

and for 20X8.5 or 20X9 front?

At least a 20x10 in the rear.. Anything smaller will look sunk in.. If you go smaller you will need a spacer...

Default Offsets?

Ok so I searched many members posts for their offsets.

If I got it right these offsets should be what I'm looking for to get the wheels flush, with just rolling the fenders or some triming. I'm not looking for major cut and weld mods. And with the air suspension should camber in enough when fully down to sit on the ground

Rear width + offset:
11" + 34mm
10.5" + 27mm
10" +21mm

Front width + offset:
9" + 34mm
8.5" + 27mm

To the next highest offset available for any mags I look for.

Sound right? My first time buying mags, sorry.

I suppose in Quebec you guys call any aftermarket wheels mags?

Magnesium wheels were once commonplace but not these days due to various issues. The Carrera GT is one of the only cars that still has Magnesium wheels..

Otherwise this offset calculator may help you out. You can enter your current wheels specs and the wheel you are looking at, then you can go measure on your car to see how much further in/out the rim will be on the car.

http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

Now of course the suspension height and camber amount will affect the measurement, but this is a very useful tool.

The rear of the car can eat up a huge wheel easily, but also keep in mind for the front your backside clearance as the back of the rim can hit the spindle if the offset/width isn't appropriate.

Yes, even advertising up north here refers to either having "Rims" or "Mags". As you mention with only one car model actually using Magnesium wheels I'm suprised anyone would get so confused and think I'm looking for actual Magnesium made wheels???? Must be an american thing lol

When I hear the term mag, I instantly think of 1980's bmx bikes...

So awesome!

They are not staggered fitment.

But if you take your wheel off the size and offset is stamped on the back of the spokes, and you can verify your specs easily.
