HID bulbs do not like being powered on an off quickly.

LED are much better in that respect. I have some left over SCC P4 bulbs that I'm going to retrofit into a friend's car. They make the CREE Q5 look dim

I would advise against the CREE led backup bulb if you have stock tails. The way your bulb hits the mirror and reflects outward kills a lot of that bright light. I was hoping these would help with my backup problems at night with my 20% tint.. guess what.. cant see *****....

If you use a led tail light, its a different story though.

I have Cree led on my reverse lights and it's brighter than your average LEDs. They're like $40-$50 for a pair and I believe there's a group buy in the classified section from JL.i like mines. I once thought of putting hids for reverse lights but the small space we have just might not like it. Like 99 gs3 said, by the time it fully brightens, you're already have reversed. But it's up to you. I think it's a great benefit to have with a switch to turn on whenever you like and beam them tailgaters! You can also YouTube it to see the projections. Unlike luda42688, I have no tint so I can see my ****. Lol

I have CREE LED revese lights. It is a night and day difference while parking at night. I think these will be brighter on the 98-00 tail lights because the 01+ reverse reflectors are very small. Sorry for the bad quality.

Tested them on my door, but the bulbs were too long to put back on the cover:

Lol, the E Brake was fully engaged. Of course I'd make sure the car wouldn't move before I get out
