A friend had hid reverse lights, but he didn't like them.. By the time they warm up to full brightness you've already reversed out of the spot and going forward again.

Typical LED bulbs will give a nice color, but they really don't offer better visibility. They look much bright when staring at them, but they are not putting as much light over as much area. CREE bulbs project nicely directly backwards but don't give any reflection to the sides. The stock bulb actually puts out the best pattern to see the most area with.

I had 3157 based 50w Hx Halogen bulbs in my truck a few years back, now that was better lighting. The difference was huge, it really helped trying to back up looking through double limo.

I haven't found them in the size for my 01+ tails, but I would be a bit concerned because they run super hot and the reverse reflector compartment is so small on these tails, it may melt the plastic or flake the chrome coating.

If you want a bright white reverse bulb just get the CREE Q5. They are ridiculously bright. The thought of using a HID kit for reverse is just kinda stupid

Here's a slightly more realistic option for you.

Unless you plan on driving in reverse all the time, you should just get LEDs, like everyone said.

lol take a look at the taillight housing for the stock 168/194 reverse bulbs. you seriously think fiitting an HID bulb in that small housing area is not going to cause any problems? you're gonna literally melt your taillights. with that small of a housing area, youre better off with cree bulbs.
