Ethan really wants to keep CL a clean place and I agree... we can easily get our message across without all the foul language. I certainly don't like editing people's posts (in fact I've only done it once before this), but this thread read like a sailor's convention.
Back on your problem - I know how you feel and hope the check covers the damage! I think blending means fixing just the spot that is damaged and blending the repainted area with the rest of the (unpainted) car.
How about electrifying the exterior?

Hey, my Dad and four of my uncles are all former sub sailors!! Just what are you tryin' to say??? J/KSecurity-wise though, a camera definitely entered my mind, 50,000 volts would be good, too. But I'm seriously considering another Clifford alarm with the proximity sensor that "talks" to you when you get too close to the vehicle. Had one on my Expy and my Wrangler, very nice product.
Thanks everyone for your well-wishes. Hope nobody else has to deal with this.

I am a true believer in the whole "karma" thing, for sure.

we have more to worry about with the damn sniper issues also.
maryland sucks
For the life of me, I can not understand why anyone would do something like this to someone else's car. I mean, will it make their car any less crappy by keying a nice car. Or, if it was someone that knew him and had a grudge, how much satifsfaction can you really get by doing it and the owner not even knowing you were responsibe? Take satisfaction in know that whoever did it is a LOSER...your car will be repaired, but he/she is a loser for life.

And I have NO enemies. If I did then maybe this would make more sense. Almost makes me wanna break down and sell the GS and buy a few Hyundai vehicles, lol.....well, maybe not
In the days before cars the punishment for stealing a horse was hanging. What would the punishment for damaging be? Tar and feather? Public flogging? Seems harse but shure kept the horse theiven to a minimum
Another thought comes to mind. Custom paint job. Base insulating coat, high conductive coat, insulating coat, conductive coat, color coat, clear coat. Wire the conductive coats to transmit like a stun gun. Stun guns work off 9 volt batteries. Just think what a high amp 12 volt car battery could deliver!!! Scratch through the paint with a key and >>>ZZZAAAPPP<<< Also triggers the remote camera for a mug shot.

That does suck! BUt I just had the exact same thing happen to me. You wanna know what ? They got both sides of my car!!! Took it in to the shop yesterday.. $3,200 in damage. And I'm driving a Taurus for a rental car. If I find the scumbag who did this, they are going to know what their hood is going to taste like.

Eric,
Hope the insurance guys treat you right and you get those nasty scratches all taken care of. Your post & pics certainly hits home with everybody who has been a victim of random or intentional keying in the past... Most everyone who has replied is certainly riled up about it
! However - enough circumventing of the language edits - I'm locking the thread.
All of CL wishes you the best in getting your beautiful GS back tip top!
