Default Black Chrome Badging

Does anyone know if black chrome badging is available from Lexus as a dealer accessory? If so, are they simply stick-on? When pulling of the existing chrome badging, will I have to snap them off of mounting holes? And, if you guys have any idea on price, that would be greatly appreciated!

TIA!

Default Black Pearl Emblems

1)Yes
2)Yes
3)No, do a search, the preferred method is Dental Floss and a hairdryer
4)Comes as a set, I think around $150 bucks...someone was selling a set in the classifieds recently.

My dealer had three "levels" of accessory black pearl emblems available. The best were the Lexus factory ones for about $700. They had aftermarket ones that they claimed used the same process for $400. And they had aftermarket ones that they told me the finish would wear off in less than a year for about $200.

If you're going to pay dealer prices for the emblems, they darn well better install them for you too.

As Johnny Moe suggested, use dental floss (waxed string kind), and a hair dryer. Heat the emblem up, and use a sawing-type motion GENTLY working the floss against the emblem. Pull on the dental floss slightly while you are working it behind the emblem. This will allow the floss to rub against the glue/emblem, instead of your paint. Again, I can't stress enough to make sure you use a waxed string kind of dental floss, and take your time heating the emblem. Don't force the floss too much! Just heat the emblem more.

Hope this helps

Lee

( I just debadged last weekend lol)

I recently purchased black pearl emblem kit.. GS430.. it came from japan.. someone else order 'em and didn't like it on his car so he sold it to me..

my research shows that existing emblems are just glued and threr are some people here on cl who swap them to new by themself.. i don't really trust myself so i'm going to the dealership.. i'm just waiting for weather to dry up a bit so that they won't fall off

prices approximatly like this

$300 - silver
$500 - gold
$700 - black pearl

...

can't wait to put 'em on )

I just recently bought a 2003 GS430 and had the dealer put on the black pearl emblem kit. It was done for about $450 including installation.. Lexus of Glendale (California).

Like PaulGS430 said hit Steve Ganz via email gonzo4u@earthlink.net for the best price or call him at 1-800-908-6968.. Hard guy to get ahold since he is really busy so you might have to be a bit patient.. If you can't get Steve via a phone call talk to Angel and he'll hook you up as well..

Hope that helps!

BTW tools you need for emblem removal are:

Phillips Screwdriver for the front emblem
Dental Floss - Waxed
Hair Dryer
Goo Gone - For the glue residue
A cotton towel
A good carnuba wax
Green Painters Tape to frame where the emblem was so you can put it back on exactly like factory
Patience - Can't stress that enough

Do a search there are lots of good write-ups but if you need any advice on DIY just PM me and i'd be happy to help.. Might even write do a writeup since I just took the gold emblems off my little brother's GS just last week..

$700? For Black Pearl/Chrome Badging? Sure.

Here's my write-up from way back when. I used the Search using 'debadged'.
