Here is the thing I have a 2002 GS300. I would love to buy the phillips HID kit. But I have a few Questons

1)If I install these lights do I after cut any wires?

2)Without the levels do you think that these lights will just look blury and blinding?

3)How hard would you say it is to install them?

1) nop, if you get the right kit it's purely plug and play. that's the case for me, very easy, less than 1 hr job

2) what do you mean level? my hid kit still focuses very well and light up the road perfectly. from a distance i can still see the headlight clearly.

Thanks for the information! What I meant was how the light doesn't get cut because there isn't any leveling system like in the OEM lexus HIDS. Now what kit did you get? Would 60000k be equal to the OEM ones?

 

well auto-leveling on the stock HID is there to make sure the HID doesn't get aimed too high when you are going uphill, when you are running on even surface it's the same.

i have philips 6000k hid kit and i love it. the stock hid is 4100k though

 

Does anyone have a comparison pic(s) of a 4100K HID system vs a 6000K....

Also I am not sure what to get 41000k or 60000k
I am looking for a blushish look not the purple look. Actually I am looking for the oem look? So maybe I should go with the 41000K? What do you think?

 

If you don't want the purple look, go for 4100k. 6000k's are purplish.

no it won't burn your wire, you are safe. the 4100k is the stock oem color, and the 6000k has blue / purple hue in it. i have 6000k and i love it. i came from 4100k and i will never go back. i have 6000k on all my cars

I bought the 4100K kit from Autolamps-Online. I wouldn't really say that it has a purple look. It is much whiter compared to Stock HIDS, i have compared them side by side. There is a little yellowish tint to it, much like having yellow fogs on at the same time. If you want the blueish purple look, then get 6100k or higher.

 

guys..just kind of curious, this is kind of "dumb" question, which model did you order? the site's fittment chart does not have Lexus application....is it just Philips 4100/6000K?

 

well if you don't have HID on your gs, you need to get the 9006 type, that's the bulb size.

if you have HID on the gs alredy and just want to get replacement bulbs, get the D2R, which stands for reflective type, the one used on our cars

yeah, my gs has the factory hid, and last yr i was searching on something more blue/purple, similar to audi/bmw. then i learned that their hids are projector, and ours is reflector.

recently i thought of putting in the d2r ultinon(sp?) bulbs, but decided not to as i learned that they will not give me anything bluer...

was just wondering about what do you guys get since the site does not offer lexus applications:eek:

 

Will, you should get the Hella 7000k's(blue). They are the best looking HID's on the GS IMO and my friend who is in the aftermarket lighting industry says they are the best in quality and durability, he has them on his car, they look amazing in person. You will have reduced Lumens from your current OEM HID's but will still be putting out much more than halogens. I think lxogood has them on his car as well as some other members.

imho it's too dim, to me 6000k is the limit. with 7000k you can't see the ground as good in some occasions. ask lex400sc about it
