Angry Stupid Witch! $*#*$(#

Alright,
I'm waiting my turn about two hours ago at the exit cash lane of the NJ turnpike toll booth.

All of a sudden...WHAM!

Some ***** with a HUGE EXCURSION taps the back of my car. She supposedly SLID.... CAN A ****** EXCURSION SLID?!?!?

She destroys my rear bumper, one light is like pushed in four inches, trunk lid is bent, quarter panel bent...trunk lid shifted over to the right about 1 inch...of course...other quarter panel damage....hugh...

Her damage....NOTHING!

She says sorry.....I SLID...its raining you know.......I couldn't stand the thought of killin her in the few minutes ahead. I knew I had to get out of there.

I estimate damage to be about 3-4 grand.....I'm pissed!

My lexus luck seems to be getting better on a daily basis.

Well I was about to retouch some scratch in my rear bumper...I wasn't expecting this amount of work.... I'll try to take some pics tomorrow.

Manuel - did you get the police there? That's numero uno if someone hits you. Get the police report. If you didn't, she can deny anything happened and you're on your own.

Wow, that's terrible! I understand you are frustrated, espcially with your recent string of Lexus mishaps. At least you are getting use out of your insurance. Imagine the hell you'd be in without it!! That lady will get her dues when her insurance company pays for your damage and her premiums skyrocket.

That sucks big time. Those huge SUVS should be run off the road. That monstrosity could have simply run you over and she wouldn't have known about it. That is how big that truck is.

Glad you are OK and hope you can fix things without paying anything. She should be responsible for it all. Now it's all just a hassle!

Sometimes you think you are in a safe situation and then some idiot of no where makes it into an accident and there is nothing you can do about it.

Sorry, that really sucks.

But it does remind me of an SUV story. Setting the stage, I grew up in Alaska and there were a lot of bases at the time. So there were a lot of warm weather yahoos that had no idea how to drive in ice and snow. Buddy of mine was rammed by a big herky pickup, full lift and big wheels. The guy gets out and says "I don't understand why I couldn't stop, I have 4 wheel drive."

Hey Manuel I'm sorry to hear that. I guess a lot of people are having bad luck this week.

This reveals the common misperception about SUVs and trucks that drives me nuts. People assume that if you have an SUV or truck with 4 wheel or all wheel drive that it somehow prevents from sliding or skidding on snow, ice or rain. It doesn't. It only helps you get traction when you are stuck. Rubber (i.e. your tires) on snow/ice/rain act the same way when you are trying to stop whether you are in a regular car or a 4wd/awd vehicle. It's things like ABS that help you stop. As a matter of fact, it takes a longer distance to stop a SUV or truck on snow/ice/rain if they start to skid or slide because they are usually much heavier than cars and the extra weight will carry them farther.

This also gets to the main reason why insurance companies charge more for SUVs and trucks. Because the are much heavier than cars, have higher bumpers and their bodies are designed to reflect energy not absorb it in a crash (unlike cars which crumple during a crash to absorb energy), SUVs and trucks cause much more damage to passenger cars in accidents. Also because of the higher bumpers, during a side impact crash, when the SUV/truck bumper hits a regular car, it's striking at more of a chest and head level of the passengers inside the car causing much worse injuries than if the bumper had struck lower down on the car.

None of this is any consolation to you but sometimes I wish car dealers did a better job of education people when this SUV/truck craze started a few years ago. Many Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Ford Taurus, etc drivers went and got their first SUV/truck and nobody bothered explaining to them a few things. 1) They have a higher center of gravity and can tip over more easily if turns are taken too fast . 2) Just because you're in an SUV/truck doesn't mean that you can drive them on snow and ice as if the pavement was dry. (Next time it's snows, look at how many SUVs and trucks you see in accidents). 3) Just because you are higher up on the road and are in a bigger vehicles does not mean that you should drive more aggresively.

Alright I'm climbing off my soap box now.

Thanks for the MOD who cleaned up my post a little. Language was indeed a little over the top.

Again, I'm not too worried about the financial damage. I was more worried about what I was going to do to the woman if I sticked patiently around for the cops to show up.

I just couldn't stand her attitude and since she didn't have any damages....even if her fault...I let her go. I just told her to get out of my face before I go angry.

I didn't give a rat's *** about what her licence plate was or even about her paying for the damage.

I'm on my own with the 3 to 4 grand...Spoke to the body shop already. It will be fixed by next week. Parts are being rushed to body shop.

It will be better soon. I'm at work now, will take a picture later on if its stops raining.

Manuel

Another reason they are discontinuing that rig, I meant SUV the Excursion. Dude, sorry to hear this. SUV's like that are for people that don't like taking responsibility for stuff. Here, it's your problem is their attitude cause they know it will take a Asteriod traveling at light speed to damage these things.

I would have called the cops and made her pay for it and made her life inconvient. She was by herself?

Yeah, just the other day, I saw a Chevy Tahoe slide into the back of a car. Nothing happened to the Tahoe. Sorry to hear of you bad luck. At least no one got hurt, but man, I would hate it if someone crushed my car like that.

Actually what pissed me off even more is that she had three young kids in the car!

BIT: from my understanding, police will hardly ever go to a accident/fender-bender now-a-days unless:

A: there is an injury
B: vehicles are blocking traffic/intersection
C: one of the parties does not have a drivers license and/or insurance
D: you witness alcohol or drugs inside a parties vehicle or on person.
E: Hit & Run

Anyway, this is how it is in CA. If everyone called the police for every accident, all police officers would be on the 405 or 101 HWY taking reports instead of fighting crime. This is WHY you need to come up with a good story if you want the police to come out to an accident. Usually claiming Injury works the best.

and the ironic thing is that all these damned SUV buyers don't use them for the intended purpose(nor are they built for it) and always say that safety is their priority, but they're the ones people are afraid of. its like fighting fire with fire

sorry to hear of all your car woes

here's a little comback story for you all:
i too believe in this suv thing, they suck in many ways.
my dad about a year ago was rear ended by a suburban or tahoe, cant recall which one. His 89 740 volvo took the beating without a bit of damage, a few scratches that are hardly visible. the truck on the other hand had to get a new bumper and a new light(it cracked). my dad let them go, he was in a hurry anyways. that damn volvo has taken so many beatings, and not one of them have needed repair, its like a tank. warning to all cars, especially those damn SUV and trucks.
dont worry people, at least our GS's will not lose control and FLIP the next time we are avoiding accidents. too bad for those excursions, they will be running a "rollover contest"
