Default Bumper BRA

Does anyone know any sites where I can get a bra for my gs300? About how much do they go for?

You can get them at the dealership. However, depending on the year of your car, it may not fit. I have a 2001 GS430, and the bras at the dealership would not fit it. The straps were the wrong lenght for the hood.

I eventually got a carbon fiber look bra (truly looks cool) from Colgan Custom. http://www.colgancustom.com/

Both places are charging about 130 clams.

Default Colgan rocks

Colgan makes a very fine product. Those were the only bras I installed on my Porsches.

Try to get factory bra, I have a 1999 GS400 and the bra fits like a glove, I'm not sure if there is any different (hood) 430 vs. 400 but I do know when the dealer put mine on I thought the strap was to short but it stretched into place....nice and tight. I'll try to gather up past pics of if your interested

Question

For what do you use a bra on a car? I have to ask since I’ve never seen this in real life only on television. Do you have it on the car all the time?

When I purchased the car new in 1999 I wanted something to protect the front end since I travel 60 miles/day freeway miles that is. At the time finding an installer for the clear bra in my area or any other since it was relatively new I was stuck with this option.

I have had no problems with any discoloration since installed and I leave it on 24/7.

Might want to consider XPel or Stonegard since you can also cover your lights...........some members swear by them.

Bra can trap grit and dust underneath the trailing edge on the hood and gradually grind the paint. Plus, despite cmc5dc's success leaving it on, if water gets trapped underneath it, paint discoloration can occur.

(I've got no dog in this fight.....had a bra on my SC and was very happy with it, but took great care not to let dirt collect or water stay trapped and vacuumed the underside every time I took it off.......but my GS is "bare"........I'd probably do one of the films if I did anything, this time around.)

Default film on Hood???

Do you guys have any idea how to put transparant film on your hood and headlight?

Would this create the same problem as bra? (water/dust trapped inside) How about hand-car-wash, would you have to take out and re apply every so oftern?

If I was to get a bra I would probably take it off everytime I wash the car. However do you know any sites that sell the "film"?

www.xpel.com

Is a good place to look for the 3M Film Bra.. The Colgan Bra is very good thou but the clear film what Xpel sells is much better.. You can search on that site for an authorized installer in your area too.. If you decide to buy the clear film also look into getting the headlights/fog lights and side mirrors done too.. You'll thank me later especially if you intend to keep your car for a long period of time!

Hope that helps!
