Arrow What oil should i use? Help please!!

So i just picked up a 98 gs400 with 118k miles for 6 grand, the oil needs done this weekend its due, the seller told me he THINKS his mechanic used a blend last oil change. What should i put in it? High mileage blend? Or high mileage full synthetic? Or something else?

Use full syn 5w-30

full syn 5w-30 or 10w-30 will be fine

You're in PA and it getting colder already, will be much, much colder soon.

Definitely go with the 5W-30 HM Full Synth or Synth Blend. If you want to spend some money you can go with Mobil-1 0W-30 or 0W-40 Full Synth to get excellent oil flow on start up.

Use an OEM Lexus oil filter.

if your gonna go with high mileage oil, might as well go with full synthetic. from i heard the high mileage oil does not do much of a good.

high mileage oil is nothing but a marketing ploy and a waste of time/money. Use any name brand dino or synthetic oil. I use whatever dino is on sale and change every 5k. If I use syn, I will push it to 8k oci's.

Full syn for sure, and buy it at Walmart in the 5 qt jugs. You can get 5 quarts of Penzoil Platinum for under $20 last time I did a change and that was a regular price.

No, I know a lot about oil already. I have a petroleum background. I'm just asking what people oci's are who are using syn.
