Default The Money Pit !!!!!!!!!

Boost is expensive no doubt and I am at the point where I have been debating on selling ye ole gs. My priorities have changed and the mods have been put on the back burner for now . I need a new turbo, new primary o2 sensors and I cracked my lip on my wald kit, plus I want to redo the paint job but being a homeowner with a wife and kids those things got to wait. What should I do sit on it or sell it ??????

If you don't need the money and you got a place to park it I would keep it

theres a few things you could do, i realize most people on the forum will tell you to keep it (including me) since we are all avid Lexus enthusiasts

but in reality....

keep it how it is and enjoy it. at least this would be my mentality (that said, i dont have kids or a wife)

OR

with the same mentality that it is a 13 yr old car, the most you could get would be selling it on CL with members who can appreciate the mods and will take good care of it.

OR

take the time to part it out, make some money back and help out the CL community and sell it somewhat stock for closer to retail value.

whatever you do, good luck with your decision

That is true Hella g35 CL would be the only place I could get a decent return, be it selling as a whole or parting it out. I sold my 1st. gen gs to a member when I bought this one

To be honest, after putting so much time and effort into a car.

I would always like to keep it.

Of course your wife and kids take priority over modifications but you can do it slowly.
I would wait on the paint job, but get the turbo and o2 sensor.

This way you can enjoy the car.

Mine is a garage queen also. Sits 8 months of the year basically. I own a car dealership so i just drive around my cars off my lot. Currently im driving a 2004 IS300, past weekend drove a Range Rover, you get the point. Keep it if money is not an issue. You will regret selling it. I cant even think of seeing someone else drive and abuse my GS after HOURS AND HOURS and $$ i have spent to keep it the way it is.

Im keeping mine.......... forever.

the 02 and turbo rebuild should not cost that much, as far as paint job just hold off. Take off the lip and just enjoy it, fix the other stuff when time permits and just get the car running so you can drive it when you get a moment. I go through the same thing every couple of weeks with my Supra, but then I get out and drive it and I dont want to sell it anymore. My garage queen/anchor gets about 1-2k miles per year so that tells you how much I drive it.

Oh no, there are defiantely people that have their own garage queens.

Most people in my area that are into classic cars, you wont believe it they only take their classics out like 5 times a year. Maybe see about
300 miles in the entire year.

But side question, is it bad to leave a car parked for sooo long without moving it. Like doesnt it take a toll on the axles or suspension ?

thanks

My thoughts exactly... I'd like to change the car up as well but we need to face reality and realizes our cars are up there in age.. Your car looking great.. Just get the items fixed so you can enjoy the car and be excited again...

Life takes priority, I like you have a wife and kid now, mortgage and bills that all must be taken care of first. While I do get to work in the garage late night, it is hard to finish projects that once were easy, you just dont have the time anymore. This year so far I have put 250 miles on the Supra, I want to sell it but in the end I know myself, I will just turn around and buy another one and do it all over again, however this time around it will be a slow long process. I am wearing myself thin getting the GS3 up to my specs, there are still much more I want to do to it but I have it looking good to a point where I can hold off on other things and take my time.

Your GS is your toy, just keep it and take your time, if you do not have a financial problem then just keep it and slowly work on it. Now i gotta find time to drive the supra, even if it is just to get some gas lol..
