This year so far I have put 250 miles on the Supra, I want to sell it but in the end I know myself, I will just turn around and buy another one and do it all over again, however this time around it will be a slow long process. I am wearing myself thin getting the GS3 up to my specs, there are still much more I want to do to it but I have it looking good to a point where I can hold off on other things and take my time.

Your GS is your toy, just keep it and take your time, if you do not have a financial problem then just keep it and slowly work on it. Now i gotta find time to drive the supra, even if it is just to get some gas lol..
+1 , well said.

plus the way I see it I aim for a part, save up money and then buy it. I don't get everything at once, just mod it slowly.

If you look at it this way and mod one thing at a time you most likely wont binge spend

You dont modify cars to make a return, either you like the car or you dont no matter how old the car is lol. You have guys dumping 10's of thousands in supras because of the love of the car. If your tired of the car part it out get a regular car and dont ever mod another car again and make your priority the house, the wife and the kids.

Well Japspec the Supra is a Japanese icon just like the Buick Grand National GNX are american icons they are coveted be it modded or stock. But a gs sad to say is just a gs it will never go up in value and if it becomes heavily modified it will only sell to a small niche of people (ClubLexus etc, etc, etc, ). I think my retirement fund and saving for my kids college education is a bigger priority than a turboed car. If you have a family then I hope you would be just as wise.

I think you just answered your own questions, if you feel that fixing what is "wrong" with your car is money wasted then it is time to move on. As you said, your money is better spent elsewhere.

Exactly so what you need to do is either get a regular ride and modify on a later date and save your money. If i had kids i wouldnt worry about boosting a car car either.

I know exactly how you feel, i have a house, one 3yr old and another kid on the way. if the car isn't costing you any extra money to keep, just hold on to it and work on it little by little. If you need money, then sell it, but after that you will be bored and eventually buy another car to mod. I had four cars before the GS and all were modded and its a hard addiction to get rid of easily, the only reason my GS is still stock is because i have a family and a house. The only thing i put on it is LEDs. I plan on keeping it stock and getting an SC later on to play with. Just keep in mind that if you get rid of your car now, you will wake up every morning itching to get another one.

My mentality with cars has always been that once you purchase a car, you are only going to loose money selling it for less. So you might as well just keep it and save yourself some time and money. Selling it off is only going to loose you and your fam money. Id say to just keep it. Plus is a Lexus. Who doesnt want to keep a Lexus!?

I too can relate to how you're feeling. I haven't had any serious issues with the car, but we all know once you modify anything , problems will come. Being at the age of 29, having a son that's going to be 1 in two weeks. Makes you ask yourself if its really worth it. I've had my fair share of having nice cars, but now that my son is here I'm a family man first. I drive my car daily so any serious downtime would be critical for example a blown engine. People may call me crazy but I've been looking at the Venza lol. I'm at a toss up because I loved the fact of not having payments ...

Default Keep or Sell

HellaGS,

My GS is an '01, I just hit 100K, does it look like it....no.

The question you have to ask is:

Is the maintenance and enjoyment of the GS worth a new car payment?

Do you WANT a new car? Sure who doesn't but your kids and the house are not going to get any cheaper...

And also when you look at older car guys, Hot Rodder, they will always tell you they had a car once and that why they rebuilt it...

I never wanted to do that, so I'll keep my 01 GS and my first car 1986 Honda Prelude with the original motor at 365K miles, with a a Kit and Rims LOL

Either choice you make, be happy in the choice....

In the future you could always rebuild the GS, but it will NEVER be the original

I dont think he is comtemplating on selling the car due to needing/wanting another car, instead it is due to the lack of use it gets and attention to certain details he wants to achive but cant due to the lack of time. I am sure he has another form of transportation since he stated that he has only put 1k miles on the GS in two years. His question is weather he should sell it due to the fact that he can not enjoy the car as much as he wants, and the fact that he can not give it the attention it needs in regards to the turbo and paint among other things.

Funny how I read this thread and going through the same dilema. I just finished the car how I want it and now am seriously thinking of selling it. I would love to keep it in the garage and play with it on weekends or whenever. But I gotta be practical. Finance is not the issue, the issue is that I can't see having 3 cars in the family when there are only 2 drivers.

I hope you get a good solution to your problem. But as others have said you gotta take care of your priorities before you can play.
