Thanks for all the responses.

Yes, I'm trying to figure out the price for the family. Which then we can decide what to do. We'd like to sell it the way it sits right now. Parting out is an option, but then we have to consider if it is worth it after considering labor cost and all.

I have car knowledge, just not with Lexus, and not with street cars.

I am a racer, if you want to know more about me, my website can be found at www.prima-racing.com

Again, thanks for all the responses, as well PM. I'll try to get a picture of the engine bay asap.

I just bought a 98 gs400 with 97,000 miles for $7,500. Dealer changed the water pump & belts for $650. So $8,150 total. That car looks great! I would pay $10,000 for it if I was still in the market.

Very sorry to hear about your friend.....Truly

As for the car its beautiful. Worth every penny of 11 thousand dollars in my book. Maybe even more around my area but in Cali 2GS's are much more common.

Good luck to you and to your friends family. God bless

I have one more question and it is a legal question. The car is under the name of my late friend. Since he had passed, does the wife need to change the registration to her name before she can sell it? OR death certificate is enough for DMV?

I received a car from a friend who had passed away once. This was many years ago but I did have to show them the death certificate, and I believe some kind of letter from the family/or whomever was dealing with the assets of the person who passed. I'm pretty sure the registration would not have to be changed into the wife's name.

But your best bet is to call the dmv and they will tell you exactly what you need to do.

good luck

Sorry to hear about your friend and I commend you for helping out the family. It would probably be best to get all the paperwork in order by either contacting DMV via phone or through their website. If all else fails, go physically into a local DMV or maybe even a AAA since they offer some DMV services. You might also want to make sure that you have the death certificate ready just in case that is required. They may require a certified copy and you want to make sure that the family has that available.

Good luck with the sale.

My condolences to you and his family, hope you can all find peace and comfort in these difficult times. That is a nice looking car with pretty low miles, hopefully you can find it a good home at the right price.
