Well I am looking to purchase a 2002 Lexus IS300 and wanted to see what everyone's opinion is on the reliability, maintenance issues and stuff to look out for on a used Lexus.
The car has 78,000 miles and I have been told it was a GM's of a Lexus delaership in ATL and the second owner bought it from his wife.
Price: $16,000
I asked him about the timing belt and he said it hadn't been changed. Anything else I should worry about?
How are yo uguys doing on gas mileage? I am coming from a 2005 STi and just trying to get everyone's opinion here..
i have been working for lexus for 4 years and i rarely see problems with them. you wont need a timing belt until 90,000 miles, so its not over due, but it is coming up.
things to look for i would guess..
-bent wheels
-oil leaks
-make sure it was properly maintained
-bodywork/damage (carfax it)
.. normal car buying things..
i guess as a customer, maintaining the vehicle may cost some $$, but if you can do it yourself its not that big of an issue.
i think $16k is about what that would cost.. although i just picked up a 2002 blk/blk 5 speed for $13,500 from my dealership.
