Default Header install diy 2000 GS400

I bought a header from group buy last year made by PPE. I went to Meineke today and they quote me $700 to install it. That is just too much. So I decide to do it myself. I searched here but did not quite put a finger on any of the post with good info. Is it just the bolts from the header and a few from the converter? I heard that I have to remove the engine mount, which I don't want to. Has anyone strip the nuts. I am pretty handy (brake pads, fluids, filters, ...), but wonder if this work should be done by profession.

I remember that Sewell carried header gaskets, but I no longer see them carry the header gasket any more. Does anyone know the part numbers? Hopefully I can order them through local Toyota or Lexus here in MD.

I am planning to do this next weekend (or the one after that, know what I mean). Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Aero Kroil the night before

If the oe gasket is multi layer copper you should be able to re-use it.

Heat cycle and re-torque.

It's not hard at all. Me and my buddy did mine just fine just takes patience. All you gotta do is remove the bolts from the top of the header, take out the bolts that connect to the Y and swap your O2's to the new headers and install back. Not hard at all. I would however recommend using a long flathead to help pry out the stock headers. If you try pulling with brute strength it'll be a b****.

Someone here said that the subframe requires to be lower for easy access. What is a subframe?

Really! If it is like $300-400 range, I would let the mechanics do it. But one place give me a rough estimate of $700-800 figure, and the other gave me 16 hours labor of $85/hour. Ouch. I don't have that kind of dough laying around at the moment. Anyway, I googled online and now knowing what subframe is. Just a few bolts to loose. NO big deal.

Thanks.
