Default DIY Headers or Lowest Bidder

Yes guys/gals, I just received my SS headers. I want the oppinion of those who've DIY their headers. This is for the 2001+ 2nd GS.

Should I do it myself or should I search for a shop? I'm in Sacramento just in case anyone knows a good shop with experience on 2GS's.

some pix (don't know how the quality will be):

supposedly the install on the GS430s is easier than the GS400. Shouldn't be too bad.

I have to add... I don't have a lift. If I can reach the bolts without a lift...it may be a go. And I see a lot of dust. LOL.

You dont need a lift. You just need to trust your jack stands will work properly.

I'm going to call the shops around tommorow morning. I just took a look at their gasket... looks flimsy; gonna order that first and review the install instructions. Once I install this thing... I hope to reach Rock-A-Lex power level (with just intake installed LOL).

I think there was a DIY on this forum. You should check it out before starting on the installation. Good luck.

or old and lazy.... haha j/k I've gotten to the point also were I just want someone else to work on my car. The only problem with that is building a track car would cost me a butt load in labor over time. Your little delima I would have payed someone else to do it too. That way they can bust their knuckles. All you have to do is pick up your car and enjoy!

I have done the install myself but you need the right tools to get the those tight spaces. and it doesn't make any easier laying flat on the floor doing it. but removing the exhaust manifold is the hardest part.

You cannot retain heat shield without perhaps welding on some mounting tabs. Trust me I asked the same question. I'd love to do this and past the visual part of smog check without hassle. I may just throw some dirty on the headers and call it a day

Hello,
Do you mind disclosing where you got the headers and how much, also how much were you quoted for install?
From what I have read this is on upgrade you can feel.. so I am eager to get it done myself.
Thanks.
