Driving downtown and my timing belt snapped. I had 180k and had just priced the kit for the water pump and Tbelt. Now the question is where do I got from here. I'm currently trying to track down a new motor but is mine salvageable? I'm thinking valves will be bent but is piston damage also a thought? Its currently at my mechs shop I don't know if he will take it apart to find out but is there any hope?
lol I was thinking that. But for the moment I'm trying to spend the least amount possible. I guess if anyone else is reading and know where I can grab a 1uz-fe for a good price on the east coast. LMK it'd be mucho appreciated!
My guess is it was the second. I purchased the car with high miles so I don'nt know off hand. I do think that I seen that service done when I looked the VIN up, tho.
Man, that's scary if the 2nd belt went at 180k. You'd expect them to last at least 10k past the recommended replacement interval.
It all depends. A car with 90k that is only driven on the highway is going to be completely different from a car with 90k that is only driven in the city.
Defiantly makes sense. Brought the car from a guy who lived in the city. And I commute there regularly. I think the water pump locking up may have had something to do with it
dang i just hit 91k on my car and i was going to hold off until 100k. looks like im going to be investing in some belts. by the way any pics of what happened? anything else get messed up?
Oh and i forgot to ask.... Is it the original belt
