installation help with tm plugs
hey,
anyone know what is the best way to install tm plugs?
I will get the plugs on monday and I am not mechanical person so I have to have someone install it but just wondering if I could take it to dealer or not. Or can I go any garage and have them install it or something. Input is appreciated.
thanks

Installing plugs on a GS300 (I assume that's your car in the profile) in a PITA vs. the GS400 (no walk in the park either). You'd have to romove the throttle body to get to the plugs. Some dealer may install the plugs. I am not sure if they will give you grief about warranties and such. A good mechanic should be able to do it but make sure he has worked on a 2JZ-GE before just for peace of mind. I believe this engine is also in some Supras so he would not have necessarily worked on a GS300.
Good luck.
Good luck.

I had the dealer put mine in. No questions asked at all regarding warranty, etc.
Fireball - Stave Ganz is going to continue to carry these, you can contact him (not sure of ongoing CL price).

So if the car isn't slighty modified, a mechanic couldn't put em in?
Wait, do you mean if the car is modded you are better off taking it to a standard mechanic versus the dealer?
Just trying to clarify for the group.
Like Dave, I had mine put in at the dealer (today ), also without issue.

I did plugs on my car...really not that bad, just about a hour labor and thats it. I wouldn't try it if your not familiar with unplugging sensors, lines and hoses though

Here is what it takes to install the plugs for GS400/430 (make sure your car has cooled down at least for 2 hours):
1. Take off engine cover with a 10mm nut driver and front STB with a 14mm deep sock wrench.
2. You will need a 10mm nut driver to unbolt the coilpacks.
3. You will need a spark plug deep sock wrench for the spark plugs.
4. With plug on the driver side nearest the firewall, you'll need a swivel adapter for your wrench to get around the brake fluid res/brake master cylinder.
All in all, the total install time should take no longer than 1 hour. So DONT go to a dealer or wherever and play more than $100. Hope that helps.

I am glad some of you did the DIY plug install. Power to you. Install instructions are also good so keep them coming.
The only thing I'd like to note is that the original poster, kapdori, has a GS300 according to his profile. All the "easy" comments and instructions so far are based on a GS4x0. The GS300 install has different issues. If a DIY GS300 info is available, then please also post.

and I would appreciate a installation tip for gs3 since I have 01gs300. I am waiting on srt ecu/intake package too. I hope I get it same time with my plugs so that I can install them together.
any inputs on the installation for intake would also be appreciated.
