Default WTF Taillights....

So i have had my 98 400 for over a week now and i notice something wierd about my tails... One of them has an amber turn sig and the other is a clearish pink....also (From looking I havent checked real hard) it would appear that the diff signals are diferent sizes between the two... Do I have a 98 tail and a newer tail in the other?? Or is it just discoloring in one? The clearish pink one looks better (to me) so I almost hope its a different year so i can replace the amber one. Help anyone??

JD

JD, that's weird. i have 98 gs4 and they are all amber at the back. actually from 98 to 00 they are all the same, i dont' think there are any difference at all. 01-02 it's total redesign so it won't even look similar.

my guess is it's decoloring. have you check to make sure the bulbs are the same?

Check the bulbs...definately could be bulbs....after time, bulbs do tend to discolor...that could be my only suggestion. I really doubt that the lens on the tail light is discolored.....just my 2 cents.

Well the accident thought is what crossed my mind. The one that appears pinkish, does have a slight crack in it. Only thing i can think of is that it has weatherd on the inside, but I thought generally lenses were solid color all the way thru so you couldnt really discolor one. Ill look more to day and post a pic and see what ya'll think...

i am a bit confused. so you saying the amber reflectors are different colors or different colors when they are on? if it's when they are on and from outside the look the same during the day, i think it's the bulbs?

The entire left side (Turn sig) is the same color as just the reverse light section on the right side.

Thats what is so wierd to me about this. I know on my old escort I could dissasemble the head lights and clear the corners, but the gs tails dont look like you could do that. The amber on the right tail is on the outside....

actually you can. you can take out the whole light and use a heatgun to deassemble it, and take out the internal amber reflector to make the clear light.

anyway that's not important now. how long have you gotten the car for? from dealer? still have warranty? when you first got your car was it like this?
