Default Vibration while idling..

Hey guys, I was stopped at a red light and noticed that my car started to vibrate, not that much but definitely not normal at all!! So I shut it off and turned it back on, and it didn't do it anymore... However, the last thing i did was an oil change 1 month ago, and so that was the first thing I checked, and when I looked at the dip stick I noticed that it seemed really low! But there wasn't any trace of a leak... So I bought 1 qt of oil and added it in and the dip stick jumped up to normal right after that...
My question is, could it be that the vibration can be caused by low oil? If so am I'm burning alot of oil??
Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks... But is there any solution for that or do I need to just keep checking it more often?

[Mods - pls merge his two threads...]

I "fix" mine by keeping the headlights in the half on / half off position. Not "on" and not "off" or "auto," but the half way point. It raises the idle just a hair and voila - NO rough idle. Case closed.

I think the other "fixes" are a witch hunt.

Good luck!

Do you have a GS400? They're notorious for their "Low Idle" problem. Don't worry, I have that too.

You probably didn't account for the oil in the filter when you changed it, that could be the cause of your low oil. Always start the car after you change the oil, let it run for 10-20 seconds then turn it off. Check the oil level after it settles back down in a minute or two.

As for the vibration, need some more details. Like people have posted, it's probably a low idle, which can be caused by a variety of things. If its a new condition, it may be a vacuum leak, or any of a number of other issues.

Hey guys thanks for the replies... But the idle got really worst! To the point I taught it wouldve blown up! So I had my mechanic look at it, just to find out it started to misfire on all 6 cylinders!! So after doing a few tests and hooking up the computer on it, he diagnosed it to be a stuck VVT valve:/ So he unplugged it so I can use it for a few days until he can get a quote from Lexus for a new valve...as soon as he unplugged it, it started idling as smooth as ever before!! So that's where I stand right now... I will definitely keep you guys posted as far as the price for the valve and how much labor is gonna be... Thanks again for your help and advice!!
Ps: didn't realize I started 2 trends for this... My bad!

That should have done a lot more than just a poor idle! It would also set a code immediately with a fault. Was your check engine light on?

The oil control valve is about a $115 part, and only half an hour to change in shop labor. Don't pay too much!

Did you have part# and snap shot of it. It would be great to see where it is located on the GS400. Thank so much for your info.

check the engine mounts...they tend to be the suspect if vibrating at idle.

I actually don't right now, my mechanic actually has the part, but will definitely try to get a snap shot of a before and after, hopefully!
