Adding an "L" to a plain mesh grille????
How to??
Anyone who has done this little mod or members who are planning to, please post how you did it or how you are intending to do it.....
I recently removed my "plain face" grille and am currently using the stock grill painted solid black w/clearcoat (ala Dex's previous DIY, NO CHROME here!) and I LOVE IT!!!!! Before now I despised the stock grill, you would not imagine how much better it looks in solid black against a solid black car......
I have an "L" that Im going to put on my "plain face" grille, but I want to make sure I get it right the first time. What is the best way to make sure it adheres well????
TIA, Tiny

Tiny, I’m assuming that you’ve got a “trunk” emblem “L” that already has adhesive on its back. I’m also assuming that the mesh is relatively flat where you want the emblem. So,
After sticking it to the mesh, why couldn’t you run a bead of hot melt glue from the rear over the mesh and down to the emblem, back up to the mesh, down to the emblem, etc. There are a bunch of adhesives that ought to do the trick.
That’s based on a mental picture of what you’re dealing with – I may not be accurate.
I’d like to see a picture when you’re done – or, are you gonna be in Fort Worth for the mid-August meet?
NOTE: I may be off base here - when I re-read your post I'm not sure what grille you're referring to??

Im referring to the L-sportline grille....
here's a another idea that is removable if you don't want the glue method. so you have the "L," now solder two small screws so that sharp end goes right through the mesh holes. on the other side of the mesh, use a zip tie to tightly tie them down with, and the threading will hold to the zip tie pretty well. add a little glue to the end of the screws where the tie is for a little extra hold. if you want pictures, search for gsintensive's pictures...he has that look if you're wondering what it'll look like, or just PM him for his input. extremely cool guy
You can buy a "L" logo from Steve Ganz for less than $20.00 that already comes with adhesive in the back. I have that setup in my car for about 5 month now.......it still stick pretty good......
You can see my set up in the picture gallery.

Yup, so far so good....knock on wood.....
Just make sure that you get it right at the first time, otherwise, the adhesive does get a little weaker.......... However, I am not quite sure how it will react to the rain, since we don't get that much down here in SD....
