so, for the aftermarket ballast you have purchased. what type of bulb connectors do they have? Do they accept D2S/D2R bulbs?

If yes, then i would cut the plug from the failed ballast and connect it to the new ballast. Now with the old plug on the new ballast, plug the whole assembly into your headlamp.

And if your car was design with OEM HID, your wiring should be able to support the aftermarket ballast. No additional harness necessary.

Yea I bought the D2s/D2r bulb harness, Thats not the trouble I'm having its the wire harness thats connected to the car. The aftermarket kit is made for non hid cars, so the two wires I pictured would just plug into the car 9006 harness, but since my car is hid equipped it does not match up.
Cutting the wires is the route I was going to go but wanted to avoid it since the driver side ballast is still good and wanted to sell it. But I guess I have no choice or buy a oem ballast =-/

Does anyone know the size of the harness is it 9004 or 9005 for hid equipped cars?
Thanks for the help istundra

just change 1 side for now. as long the burners (bulb) is the same age, the output should be the same.

It says it is for a LS400.. but looking at the pix.. it looks almost identical.

Now of course I told them no it's ok, my question is could I just replace both ballasts with aftermarket ones with no problem using my current headlights or would I have to get non hid to install the aftermarket hid?

u'd better to replace it with whole HID kit to make sure the compatibility ....

if you only replace the ballasts, i am not so sure whether the plugs and wires can fit to factory ones....

for your 02 GS with xenon, you can order this kind of slim D2R HID kit, http://www.vvme.com/digital-slim-d2s...cPath=44_45_33

it is on sale for 60% discount now for oncoming Christmas..... before i bought without any discount.....

easy to locate the ballast to make sure it is attached well and little interference to your car radio....
