Default ES330 HID retrofit..possible?

Hi all,
Just joined the forums. Having gotten used to driving cars with HID, I just absolutely need it on my 2003 ES330! The car I have didn't come with HID and now I'm wondering--is it possible to do a swap for factory HID housing + ballast etc? I don't want aftermarket kits because I like to preserve OEM as much as possible. Pricing and any warnings would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Vic

you can put in the factory hid housing with ballasts and bulbs, but you will lose the autoleveling. not a big deal imho but just keep that in mind. price wise it's not going to be pretty at all. you are looking at at least 1k for each side easy, not including the install

In hindsight...did you assume the ES330 had HIDs as a standard equipment?

Like Rominl said...its gonna cost you big bucks to do it OEM style (less the auto leveling).

Aftermarket will cost about $500....DIY installed.

Well, it is my girl's car, she bought it before we met, and i drive her car a lot when we go out, a lot more comfy & roomier than my car. hehe. She regrets not getting HID now, but oh well. DIY isn't as bright as factory, i thought, because of the housing?

Thanks for all the info so far guys.

if you put on hid kits it would be cheaper, 500 bucks a set, but then the light pattern won't be as perfect as replacing everything of course

yeah, what a pain. Is there an ebay market for these products like on the bmws? You can find lots of used bmw xenon housings etc on ebay. Maybe i'll give that a shot. Thanks guys.

Having driven her car a bit...wow, I think lexus are pretty damn nice. I used to shun them (i am an infiniti/bmw/mercedes guy by nature) but now I think my next car will be a lex. heh. I can't stand my bmw, it's in (suprise) the shop again.
