Default Aftermarket navigation install help - VSS Help (picture inside)

Hi,

I'm in the middle of installing a Pioneer Avic D3 into my GS WITH the Nakimichi (nak) system. I already did the bypass now looking for the VSS wire to tap.

So according to this thread

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...k-40-pics.html

The VSS wire is the purple / white one. Unfortunately the pics are no longer there.

For those of you who installed a aftermarket navi in your GS, can you confirm that this purple/white wire on a blue plug that goes into a big brown looking replay located right at the base of the parking brake pedal is the VSS wire.

Here is a picture.

Thanks. I'll post up what I did for the guys with Nak radio in a new thread when I'm done.

Default VSS wire

You don't need the vss wire, i have'nt hooked up that wire in years. I have three cars with navi system's, not one of them have that wire hooked up and they work perfect.

do an AVIC keyword search in the photo gallery, I posted a picture of the VSS wire on the instrument cluster harness.

I did see it but will do that as a last resort because I don't want to take out the instrument cluster.

if u have a gs 430 then its purple/white by the power steering ecu, The power steering ECU is between the driver kick and the ABS ECU.

if its a gs300 its red/blue 17 pin plug, pin #11, Located inside ECU box which is under hood on the drivers side.

Tap it. And then check if your HU can sense it. You're almost there and not much to lose.

You will need VSS wire because it helps detect at the rate your car is moving.

It will still work without it.. but your NAV may seem lost sometimes.
