Rear STB install help
HI,
I am trying to install Tom's Rear STB, and I am wondering if anyone that has done it before can provide some pics and instructions on how to take the rear lining off, with the plastic screws(are they snap on/off?)..etc, I know there has been some instructions on UGO STB, but I can't find them through search.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If i do take it to a shop, what's reasonable charge for the install?
thanks

Just pulled the lining off..., wasn't as bad as I thought.
Now, do I just unscrew the 3 screws that are attached to the car and use those to secure the base of the STB? Do I need to be concered about how tight I put those back on?
Also, around three screws on Tom's STB base, it's kind of like a bucket that goes over the bolts, when you do put the screws back on, how would you tighten the screws back? It seems to me that you need some special tool to tighten them, any suggestions?

I have a rear STB bar. You need a thin sidewall deep socket wrench (14mm I think) and torque bar.
I didn't have a torque wrench to put them on at a specific torque setting - I just did it until they were 'good and tight' without overdoing it - with a torque bar you don't need much effort at all.

I just did mine a few weeks back. Torqued the bolts on at 41 or 42 ft/lbs with the torque wrench. The plastic screws just push back in for the liner. One of the washers goes on each side of the nut and bolt connection that attaches the bar to the strut tower pieces, and one goes inside to keep the bar from rattling when your're all done. At least I think that is what the 'extra' washers are for.
Don't overtighten the bolts when you put the plates on top of the strut towers! If you do, then you will have to go to a dealer.
Good luck and enjoy!

the posts will go back to the very beginning, feb 2001. the write was no longer than the start of the year and no later than three months ago i believe. so three to six months ago is an easier way to say that. try "stb install" or "rear install". good luck
