you should consider using some fuse too just in case the wire shorts so it doesn't catch on fire.

Yup, what ^^ he said. If you had put fuses on either end of that wire, probably would have prevented the problem from happening.

What kind/type fuse are you recommending? A typical clear plastic fuse holder with a 100amp fuse up near the battery??

Would 1 fuse be enough? I could put a 100 amp fuse up near the battery but getting another one down near the alternator might be PITA. It is so tight down around that alternator.

i have a hc2400 in the trunk and been looking at putting another one under hood to replace my optima yellow top. i know alot of people go with the hc1800 underhood though i wouldnt mind the hc2400 just not sure if it will fit as i measured a OLD HC2400 since i cant get to mine in the trunk to measure it.
Yes a 1800 under the hood, and a 2400 in the trunk. i made a box for it so it wouldnt move around but it works awsome. i just paralleled the positive and grounded the grounds. works good im running my compressors and amp setup with no dimming. works great! i would recommend it to anyone who has the funds.
