Default Lexus Door Locks work, but don't

My 2002 Lexus GS300 will lock automatically when i press the lock button on my keychain, but the car seems to think that a door is open:

- the dome light is set to "door" and will not turn off, even though all doors are locked.
- the headlights do not turn off after two clicks of the lock button
- the car does not beep once to signal it is locked.
- note: normally, when the car is unlocked, and the button is pressed to lock it, while a door is open, a long beep is heard until the door shuts. if a door is open, you can still hear the beep, but under normal circumstances, you cannot. this is strange because the dome light and headlights do not turn off - so i would think the car thinks that a door is open.

it unlocks just fine.

please help! what is the problem? how much will it ocst to fix?

thanks!!!

Woah easy there, man.

OP, I have the opposite problem. When I open the rear driver side door, it doesn't register that the door is open.

Hey 1UZ, with that "dead" door open, hit the manual button on that courtesy light and tell me if it triggers the front dome light circuit.

Yes, check that door switch. Under the rubber grommet, it should be a 10MM bolt grounding and securing it to the car. It is a neg ground system.

My truck had the same thing and the dealer replaced it.
