Default Painted stop/tail lights?????!

i've tried searching to no avail....and i don't have the patience to revisit the now "encyclopedia sized' gallery, but i can sware i've seen someone paint out their stop/tail lights w/ a color matching their car (silver or black). (these are the little lights on either side of the license plate in the rear) are these lights necessary for safety? does anyone have pics handy? seems like it would be an easy, and reversible, process, and would add a bit of spiff to the back.

yes, i said spiff.

Here's your spiff.

Martin Krafts GS

Click here for Nomura website (the tuner that customized his car)

I'm going to smoke my side markers up front like he did the rear, just need to find time to do it.

I have the alpine silver. My idea was instead of painting it silver make everything smoke black just like Martin's GS. Also get black emblems to accomodate with the black tailights.

I think I had what you're looking for. Painted center trunk lights silver to match my car's millennium silver.

I end up taking them off because 1) It's hard to see the actual brake light light up in daytime (friends who drive behind me told me) and 2) it made the already wide GS look even wider which I don't really want.

Here's a pic.

globeclk,
yes, it was your pic i saw somewhere in the gallery, i think it looks great...i don't see the added width, but of course a pic isn't as good as in person.....so, you ended up removing the paint then and going back to normal? are those smaller lights the only brake lights (other than the spoiler)...or does some part of the tail lights (the larger ones) light up too?

It made the car look wider from a distance, and also from other angles. I end up removing the paint. Now I have regular trunk brake lights, and RED-TINTED rear turn lights (the part that was orange is now red.) I was one of the first on ClubLexus to have it. Check it out.
