Default Rear Tail Lights

I like the rear tail lights but only on certain colors like Silver or White. On the darker colors sometimes they seem to contrast just a little too much but they are growing on me.

Here is my quesion. Has anyone ever modified or changed out the rear taillights with something else? I wished that they offered a 'blacked out' version so it can blend in better with some of the darker colors.

An example of what I am talking about is the regular Nissan Altima v. the Altima SE-R. Take a look at there pics.

Altima:

Do you see the difference? I really like that blacked out look and think it would look fabulous on the RX! Any ideas if this can be done or bought?

It seems to me that, when discussing taillights, the word "rear" is not necessary.

I like the black-out design especially on darker color of a RX. I think we have those on RX300. The OEM tail lights (clear lens) look good on lighter color. I've seen the one has red surrounding insteading black-out or chrome. I am not sure if they are OEM for JDM Toyota Harrier.

The clear lenses seem to be a point of some (but not much) controversy, because they are unusual. To me, it's a bold fashion statement, and I'm OK with that. In fact, I like them a lot and much prefer them to the ordinary red plastic lenses.

But I could be wrong.

How about this tail lights design? The color keyed rear spoiler looks unique.

Look at CK6Speed's RX330 in the 255/50-19 thread. He color-keyed his rear spoiler by having it painted.

Good eyes! The OEM is black and glossy. He must sanded it before painting it. Not sure if it is the JDM OEM, factory painted.

CK6Speed said in another thread that he had it painted.

Do I see the missing roof racks or has the multi-panel sunroof package? I am not surprised that in Hawaii.

You can't have both the roof rack and the multi-panel moonroof and given that one photo shows the roof rack, it must be the earlier rather than the latter.

I do like the look of those. I wonder what it would look like on a black one? I wonder if there is anyone that has this done on this forum? $383 is so expensive...I assume it's for one?
I guess the black owners don't have to worry about matching the rear spoiler to the car

Probably you have to custom made one. I've seen people in other auto forum (not Lexus) that they removed the clear lens cover by baking the whole lens assemble in oven just enough heat to melt the silicone seal. Then you can spray paint the lens surrounding to look like a black-out lights.
