Sound System Problem

So I was driving from Columbus to Cincinnati and after about an hour of the the 1.5 hour drive my stereo started cutting out and getting really staticky. It kept going from static where I could hear the music a little bit and then back to full sound and then back again (Sometimes I would have to turn the volume down, or turn off and then back on the Head Unit to restore full sound). Also, the Stereo Head unit seemed to be getting hot. I have the Nakamichi Sound System in a 98 GS 400. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your stereo. I have a 2000 GS4 with Nakamichi in it and I've never had that problem. I've read some posts that said the volume **** might be going back and causing the static but I've never experienced that myself.

Also, you from Cincinnati or were you coming down here for something? I live on the north side of the queen city...
