I just picked up my car after leaving it with the audio guys for over two weeks, drove around yesterday and today with no problem(4 hrs driving time in total)...and right before I was about to make a left turn and went into my apartment, the car shuts itself down!!! I mean, the battery seemed fine,...I had the tow truck came and tried to reboot the car and the car just would not start!!(sounds like the car wants to but engine would not even jump)

Could it be that my battery is completely dead?? (I can still listen to music and stuff while i was waiting for the tow truck though)
I have a 2002 GS430 with just intake, TEIN HA and GREddy, and the audio guy install macintosh amps, swap out the stock speakers with some focal Utopia, change the power wire, signal enhancer....and bunch of other stuff ...so I do not feel it has to do with the audio, has this ever happened to any of you???

The dealers are closed today and tomorrow (Canada Day) so they will come and pick up my car to the dealer on Tue, I just hope that this is not fatal!!

wondering how old your car is... maybe it is a faulty key. Try another key. The way it sounds, your car is not turning over, as if the security system has kicked in. Maybe it has gotten confused. Try removing the battery terminals for a few minutes... then try again.. with your different keys. if not, good luck!!!

I fixed the problem...I was very frustrated so I went down to check out the car again with my gf this time...perhaps the females are more attentive..anyways..she pointed out in the engine bay that the intake if complete off!!!!!

WOW, thumbs up to the opposite sex, I did not check the intake cus I would not imagine in a million year that the intake would fell off!!!

well, I immediately unscrew my engine cover, put the intake back in and screw them tight (WR needs to think of new ways of tightening their intakes!!) and hehehehe, my car is alive!!!

Anyways, I have to repay my gf big time by doing something with her and this time I have to make it last! :P

BTW, how much did you spend and what model are the mcintoshs?

 

I spent way too much, but these guy won the IASAC award..so..
I have the MCC404M to power the front speakers and MCC301M to power the subs..but right now the subs are not added yet..
they put some crystal line stuff into enhance the signal to RCA, some stuff here and there (one guage power wire, speaker wire, some stuff under the hood...) and it ran about 8000 CND already!!!(stuff are way too expensive in Canada) oh, when they put those focal speakers in, the audio guys added wood frame and dynamat it all around..and they move the position of the tweets right down to the buttom to where the stock speakers are.
I dunno, the quality are not that impressive, they are thinking about even change the head unit, but that way my stock nav audio function won't work..
they want to completely get rid of the stock amp and run everything from the mac amps, so far they have to run through the stock amp before it goes through the mcintosh..(they said the ECU is a pain) still need more work..

do anyone of you still run the stock amp at all (for those of you with nav and upgraded your audio..)

way to go for the gf! btw if the battery was dead, your car wouldn't even try to turn over. and i have never heard of a battery dying while driving.

 

im sure a batt has died while driving before... it must have been extremely week and same with the engine... the engine prolly wouldnt be able to charge it or something...

yeah, the audio guy told me they love utopia, but before I upgraded my system, I told them I want to have those live accoustic sound. I tested them in their showroom with just two focal speakers and it sounded sooooo nice. He told me it would sound even nicer in my car given the lexus has really nice sound blocking strucutre..but it sounds all right...perhaps my expectation was just way too high..and there is also some exortition while driving..apparently it takes more than just good components to obtain great sound, it takes a lot of tuning, and adjustments, and where they put the speakers...
when I started i want to have awesome trunk work, but now I want to have the top notch SQ first..
