thanks guys, just got back from my auto savvy friends house and he did confirm that it def the wp. Just had it replaced literally like less then 2 weeks ago. looks like they used the old gasket and tried to use a gasket maker or something like that. their work is warrantied for 12 months or 1 year, do you think theyd be willing to order a new gasket and replace it under that warranty they offer?

so instead of buying a 5 dollar gasket they use that? I have nothing against RTV if used properly.

Don't bring it back to that shop. idiots.

The gasket can be reused if it is not damaged. Also, make sure that the two mating surfaces are thoroughly cleaned! Using RTV in between in the pump and housing like they did can actually cause a leak!

laziness.

Guy I know is an engine builder and had a customer spend 7000 on an engine, a 500 cubic inch GM for a caddy and even so it was a heavy *****, all aluminum, and refused to buy a lift plate. Tried to lift it a different way, dropped it from 5 feet up it cracked the concrete, and after inspection the shortblock got fubared up.

My guy does not load engines due to this kind of thing.

Do it right or do it twice. Someone wise said this.
