There should be a video tutorial on how to search. An editted version. Start with basic concept then advanced. Maybe more people would do it. I'd hate to see valuable new members shy away from asking questions.

Welcome
The gs is a well built machine do not fear - i took the plunge not too long ago and have enjoyed it so far... but try get one that has been well taken care of. Parts prices are well within reason (online) for a car like this and Gas consumption is relatively good for a 300 hp 4ltr V8 with ave 20-24 mpg hwy premium gas
As posters above state there are different models and trims available that you can research into to help find out more about the car and to guide you in your purchase.

I put regular in my gs300. It gets lousy mileage (19-20). I have put regular and premium through my ls400 and there is absolutely no difference on that car. I am just so used to putting regular in my gs300 that every time I see the 30-40 cent difference I decide not to put it in. Probably it is a good idea in the long run, but I wouldnt worry either way. These aren't that delicate.

Bigest question would be how much you want to spend?

IMHO: GS300-dont waste ur time(no offense GS3 owners just my op) it gets worse gas mileage than the 400 and 75 hp less. There is no reason IMO to get the 3 over the 4 unless u get a great deal, find a rare Sportdesign or plan to do a swap..The GS400 is a GREAT car.. I owned a 98GS4 Spectra Blue Mica/Tan lthr for about 2yrs from 90k to 140k. Very fast, great looking(same body 98-05), great car for the money, reliable, Good MPG. I do 90% hwy driving and would get 20mpg no problem. Gotta watch out for a few things though: Timing Belt/water pump is a expensive job, should be done at 90k, the Starter is another very expensive job especially for a starter($800+), and the last that i know of but not too much bc it was done b4 i got my GS4 i think are the ball joints. Now that they(GS's 98-00 esp) are getting old watch out for things like worn out interiors(beyond what is acceptable to u bc u have to expect wear), bad bodywork gone bad, excessive hood chips(big$$$ to spray a whole nose), weather stripping on bottom of doors(cheap to replace-common GS thing), 2stock 17's on mine cracked on the inside lip(cheap fix), overall a great car.. i dont sweat mileage too much i look for good maintenance history.. GS430 is what i own now. Everything the GS400 is just with better options.. Wood wheel, Mark Levinson stereo, bigger/better, newer car obv, taillights, grille, etc... Two cons comes to mind is that they eliminated the Tiptronic steering wheel shifters that the 400 had and the 400 felt faster(or maybe i just baby my 430 alot more haha).. Hope this very short reply helps haha.. Welcome to clublex,,, Jay

^ The 400 felt faster because throttle response is instantaneous.

Wish I saved up for a few extra months and grabbed myself a GS4 instead of a GS3... Oh well. Now I'll just have to boost her.
