Default Need some advice...

hey guys im new to the gs scene. I have a couple of questions on making my gs go faster from a dead stop. My friend has a 07 camry v6 (stock, im also stock too) and he keeps saying that he will beat me by 2 or 3 car lengths (were gonna be racing roughly a little less than a mile and just over a km). We are going to race soon and i need to know if i should e-shift or let the car shift in power mode? Do i have a chance? Any help would be appreciated...

First and foremost, which GS do you have? GS300, 400 or 430?

The GS300 will have no prayer against the Camry V6. The GS3 will get walked indefinitely.

The GS400 and 430 on the other hand will give the Camry a run for its money and you'll more than likely win no matter what. The Camry V6 depending on tires will pull a 0-60 time of anywhere from 5.7-6.1 seconds. The GS4 and 430 does it in about 5.4-5.6 seconds. After that, the Camry has no chance anyways since you have much better high end power.

Now, for prepping your car.... You don't need much really. Just throw the ECT into PWR and let the car do the work. Don't worry about e-shifting as I'm assuming this will be a drag race. E-shifting is mainly used to shift down a gear for the extra kick when needed, but from a stop it won't do you any better than the car itself.

Launch with the VSC on so you don't spin your tires too much.

I think you still have a chance with the 300 but hands down with 400. My dad has a camry and i have 400 and i can easily tell i can stomp on the camry.

I've learned from first hand experience that the GS300 stock for stock will not run with a newer Camry V6.

As much as I love my GS4, I wanna "cheat" on it with a LOT of the newer cars that effortlessly keep up or whoop it. A 5.4 - 5.9 0-60 time seems common nowadays. Really!?! A Camry? Sheesh...

yea i agree theres alot more NEWER cars out there quicker. But our cars are 10+ years old. Many cars dont even last this long, and to be keeping up with newer cars is just amazing.

Dont get me wrong, i love the newer cars coming out... Just cant afford one right now

I never thought the day would come when people ask if they can beat a Camry. To me it's like when the SRT4s came out and people were asking if they could beat Neon (they are a Neon, I don't care what you say). It's definitely interesting to watch the auto trends of the last 20 years.
