Hello all, and a note on paper clip trick
I recently bought my first Lex GS300, '98. From the looks of it, the car has been wrecked at least twice, so I guess I'll stay here for a while

Anyway. A note for those like me who don't use Internet Explorer and still would like to download 2nd gen GS repair manual from bahamutcars: here's the table of contents:
http://bahamutcars.free.fr/workshop/...ntents/pdf.xml
and here's the actual contents:
http://bahamutcars.free.fr/workshop/GS_97-05/rm/rm588e/
http://bahamutcars.free.fr/workshop/...5/ewd/ewd317e/
Also, this is how to read error codes using a paper clip (applies to all 2nd gen GS):
find the Diagnostics connector under the hood.
Using the paper clip, short these terminals:

Turn the ignition on
Count blinks

check the meaning of the error code. Many are here:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...cel-codes.html
All can be found in repair manual.
Most error codes can be read and cleared without any scan tools. That's why I love this car
counting to 1,159 would be stupid
and I should have been more specific. So, here comes:short the pins, turn the ignition on, srs blinks once, short pause, 6 more times, long pause, then again. Quick lookup in the manual: 16 = B1159 = left front sensor malfunction.
All codes are two digits, easy to count
lovely isn't it? you can reset errors too, however the procedures require some dexterity, for example to reset SRS error codes you have to:<quote>
(a) Connect the 2 service wires to terminal Tc and AB of
check connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ACC or ON and wait approx. 6
seconds.
(c) Starting with the Tc terminal, ground alternately terminal
Tc and terminal AB twice each in cycles of 1.0 second.
Make sure that the terminals are grounded. Finally, ce-
nure that terminal Tc remains grounded.
HINT:
When alternately grounding terminals Tc and AB, release
ground from one terminal and immediately ground the other ter-
minal within an interval of 0.2 seconds.
If DTCs are not cleared, repeat the above procedure until the
codes are cleared.
</quote>
there also is an image showing which terminal is Tc and which is AB. I like it more and more
