Any advice on finishing and fitting the RMM grille?

The install is straight forward, but what is the best way to get even spacing and level fit with hood? Did anyone have to redrill the mounting holes in the hood to get a proper fit? Can you sand/grind down the grille to get a flush fit with the hood and then prime and paint.

Has anyone stiffened the grille by filling the back cavity with fiberglass and resin?

 

Didn't do any of the aforementioned, and the grille fits perfectly for 2 years now. No complaints @ all. Should line up and install perfectly.
