So in Canada this car had headlight washers. My front bumpeer looks like its been shot by an ak-47 because of the rock chips and I got quoted about a grand to prep/paint it again. I can buy a bumper for this thing for like 300-400 and pay $250 to paint that and have a new bumper. Only problem is none of the come with the cut outs for the headlight washers as well as a mounting bracket thingy for the water reservoir. Any suggestions? I was even thinking an aftermarket bumper route but same thing there, no body kits are made with those provisions...
take the dimensions of the washers from the old bumper then measure out where about the holes are supposed to be on the new bumper then have somebody cut them out
That sounds like bull, they would just sand it flat, block it and prep it. Look for at better quote at another shop.
these guys did two vehicles for me already and they are great quality and always about 20% cheaper than other quotes. Did I mention this includes removal and re-install?
It is about 400 for a bumper , if you want to stay with anyone who may have painted your cars before giving you a quote no matter what the work involved you need your head checked.
No amount of paint removal costs $600 , hell you could use regular paint remover with a brush and prep it your self as it would scrape off.
Hole for the washers are easy to cut and it will fit fine.
I have paid about 250-400 to paint a bumper in NYC depending on what I wanted to have done that is both with removal and reinstall. The price that they are quoting you is complete and utter crap. If you want to stay with a shop that is trying to beat you over the head you are more than welcome to, me personally I would get another price. Also removal and reinstall of the bumper is a piece of cake so you can do it yourself if you want to save some money, by bringing the bumper to the shop uninstalled.
