Default I got big problems someone help me.....

ok well last night i got into a little altercation and the other person threw my keys and when i went to go find it i only found my broke shell and the small chip that goes inside it.

then i had to call a tow truck driver to tow my car home. well since my car was parked in reverse he couldnt do it. So someone gets the gear into neutral and i was like ok whatever at the time. then i got it towed its in the garage right now. but when he put it back inside and got it off the truck it looked liek he forced the gear back into park andim thinking that is how he got it into neutral. by force and without the key.

this morning i find my key and try to start my car damn thing doesn start i tried and tried damn thing doesnt start at alll I NEED SOME HELP someone help me with this i dont know what to do

i got a scraped up arm and my hand is aching, broken key, car no workie, and an iphone with a completely shattered glasss man i am soo pissed

They probably broke the neutral/park safety switch on the shifter assembly. I could be wrong though. Why didn't they just pop off the cover to the override switch. That little square shaped plug with a slot in it next to your shifted, you just take a coin or flathead, pop that off and depress the button and you can shift through all the gears with the car off. Any tow truck driver should know that, I would call and complain and have them fix the damage they caused.

Honestly you will probably just need to disassemble the center area around the shifter mechanism and see if you can see anything broken. I don't remember the layout of the mechanism well enough off the top of my head or what parts could have been broken so I can't be much more help than that but from what you described it sounds like the safety switch has been damaged. If you are super desperate you can turn the ignition to the on position and jump a heavy gauge wire or jumper cable to the starter terminal.

are you using the same broken key? The car won't start if the chip is broken. Do you have a spare key? if the chip isnt inside the shell, make sure you put the chip near the key when you try to start it.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. If your key was broken then you would have problems starting the car(trust me on this one i know) your gears or parking thingy may have been forced but I'm pretty sure that wouldent effect you from starting the car. something may have happened to the brain in the key and it doesent work now. I'd start with the key then go from there. GL

Same here... probably just the key. as for puting it in neutral c'mon EVERY car can be put in to neutral, theres a button you push to disengage the lock and allow you to put it into neutral, so he didnt break anything gotta be the broken chip.

The point is he didn't hit the little button, thats why something could have been broken with the shifter assembly. I assumed he was using a spare key or something so I didn't bother with that but I shouldn't have assumed as much.

That's just wrong. But we were all kinda thinking it. LOL

He probably meant backed into a spot, thus negating the ability of a standard tow truck to move it out without damaging it. Of course, this is why you call for a flatbed when needing to be towed, and also why you should remember that you don't have to be able to start the car to move the gear lever. Another reason to stay smart and not lose your head. Gets spensive.
