I was gonna just bite the bullet and get the whole black pearl emblem set from carson for $270.

I have the silver set and wanted to keep the middle "L" in chrome and get the "Lexus" and the "GS 300" in black pearl. I kind of want that two toned look since I have the silver "L" in the black chrome anniversay grille in the front.

It just sucks that I would have to buy the whole set for just the "Lexus" and the "GS 300" emblems in black pearl.

Anyone have experience painting or spray painting the chrome emblems? I have the silver emblems in perfect condition. And to reattach, could I just use 3M double sided tape?

I know in the 1st gen SC forum there's a write-up about going from gold to black pearl. Keep in mind though that it should be relatively easy to sell the "L" emblem if you were to buy the whole set. As far as adhesive, you could use 3M but I would recommend emblem adhesive. It works good and is a clear glue rather than tape so that it sits more flush.

Yea I did a search and didn't find too many write ups with pics. I'm looking at autopia and a couple other car forums for official write ups.

I would get the black pearl, but I might as well give this a try. I'm debating on the type of paint to use.

I just wanted to get some actual feedback from CL members on any of these methods that works best for our emblems.

I was wrong, it was from gold to chrome. I'm sure once you get it to where it's chrome you can probably spray it with like a gunmetal color then use a clearcoat. Here's the thread.
