I was thinking about selling my GS400, reason being; 1 I have two cars, I really don't need it, right? All said and done two years ago I paid $17,000, with $7000 down and I owe less than $7k on it now. I just purchased a rental property in which I will generate $500 a month, no car payments, and minus and insurance that will be an extra $750 a month in which I can use to start paying off my $30,000 debt and save to buy a house for myself. Short term may seem good, but long term not so good. I will never find a car like this in a few years, I mean I already pretty much lost 7000.00. I'm only selling it for 9250.00; numbers are not exact but you get my point. If my civic craps the bed Ill still end up buying a new car and have car payments again, and I am not going to buy something for 30k in which would have the same performance and luxury as the Lexus. I hope you guys get what I am trying to say. Performance/luxury to cost ratio will be much more if I need to buy a new car in a few years, compared to my gs400. I mean I will be able to afford a 30k but I guess with my older age I am trying to be practical. I can buy a nice car when I can pay cash for it, or at least half.
its really up to you... i recently sold my highlander i bought 3 years ago and paid 16k cash for it and sold it last year for $10K.... everyone has taken a loss in their life.. i would save up and buy a house and just drive the civic for now!!!!!
I would stick with the Lexus and sell the Civic. It doesn't sound like you're too confident about the reliability of the Civic which shouldn't be a problem with the Lexus. Use the money you get from the Civic towards paying off the Lexus. How much longer do you have until the Lexus is paid off, about 1-1 1/2 years? I've considered selling my car and getting something else but I only have 9 more payments until my car is paid off. I want to save up for a house so I don't want to have that car note anymore. Just sacrifice a little now but it will pay off in the long run.
its a 96 civic with 135,xxx. Before I bought it it was beat up, and sat for 9 months,, I only paid 500 for it but put some cash into. I would probably get $2500 for the civic and that may be pushin it. I just need it to last me a few more years. I though about selling the civic I wouldn't feel comfortable driving the lex in the winter and I need a work car. We have some pretty bad storms in the winter.. I had to pull it out of my driveway in about 3 inches of snow and I got stuck. I only have about a year and half to pay of the lexus, but I could use that money for a down payment on another home. I guess I need all you guys to say sell the Lexus, its just soooooooo hard to let it go. Ill have two breakups my gf of seven years, and my other baby my GS..haha
honestly if u trying to save $ sell the lexus....maint is cheaper on the civic. i know people gonna flame me about this but thats my point if u are trying to save money that maybe best route
