Who uses E-SHIFT?
OK..... I used e-shift today for a bit of spirited driving on the way to work because of this thread. The exhaust does sound much better and driving is more fun, but boy does it waste gas!
Ahh nay my friend, though art doubt the gs400!
98-2000 gs400 have eshift.
Eshift was actualy a main seller for me. Thats why i strictly looked for 98-99 GS4's on auto trader. I think some 2000 models dont have eshift, i could be wrong though.

I use it quite a bit in the winter time for downshifting when going into a turn or in traffic. It makes me feel like I'm driving a car with manual transmission and using the engine to slow down instead of just the brakes. E-shift with snow tires and VSC provide me with no worries driving this car in the snow/winter. Just need to take it easy and be smart about it.
I always use the E-shift, there is no reason not to: All that putting the stick one click more to E-shift mode does is enables the buttons on the wheel. The auto still changes at exactly the same points if you don't touch the buttons.
Nothing lost and everything gained - if you don't want to use it you don't touch the buttons!
Now you can rev to the limit, preset down to a lower gear year without a kick down delay and avoid flashing "book me, I am guilty " brake lights at cops.
