Default Paint Scratch

I was parking the other day and I scratched another car pretty bad . How much do you guys think it'll cost? I rubbed some paint of both of our cars but no dent.

Scratched as you exposed metal OR paint transfer?

For a paint transfer you might get away with clay baring and polishing. For a real scratch it depends on the color, size, and location of the scratch. Pics?

It is metal showing. I hit him in the rear bumper of a newer Honda Accord Coupe. I scratched my gs on the front bumper.

Rear bumper should be plastic on that car. That should not be too pricey of a repair, relatively speaking. See if you can find a mobile paint repair outfit in your area and get quotes for both cars. Are you getting your insurance involved?

I am not getting my insurance involved. I just feel bad because I know how much my car means to me... and if it happened to me I would be pissed. So yeah... I don't want to pay like 400...

Would you want someone to own up to it? I know I would. It may cost you a few bucks, but it's just good karma, mang. Do the right thing - it will come back to you.

Yeah I talked to the guy. I told him to get the repair done and show me the receipt.

thats a good and wise thing to do/... but if he takes it to one of those repair shops who like ripping off people's wallets, it might hit you hard!

I agree. Not trying to scare you but you probably should have told him to get you the quote first. If its too high then you could get your insurance involved. I ran into this once. A guy wanted 2K for a bumper respray when I rolled and bumped him at a red light. It was a old Subby 2.5RS. I called my insurance and they sent a adjuster out - $600.00 repair.
